Alrighty..... well, I thought I would have been posting a date blog sooner than this but Justin works late sometimes and often has a 2 hour commute. He doesn't feel up to heading out anywhere after he gets home around 8 or later. I can't blame him. I come home at 4 (sometimes 3:30) and immediately get into PJ's and that's where I hibernate until the next morning. Don't judge!
So, I had told him earlier in the week that I was thinking about sitting myself at The Greene Turtle to watch the Skins beat Dallas today. He said that he would keep me company if I didn't mind a tag-a-long. I was surprised by his offer because he doesn't like and isn't into football. I appreciated the gesture that he wanted to spend time with me and would put up with football to do so. :) I told him he was more than welcome to attend anything he wished with me but I hope I didn't have to wait until Sunday (today) to see him. He said something about getting sushi or asked if I liked sushi. I told him that I heard sushi was like wine; there's a type out there for everyone I just haven't tried enough to figure out if I like it or not. Well, I thought that this meant that he would have invited me to dinner prior to today, but he didn't. That's ok. It all worked out fine in the end.
So, since I am in-between his house and TGT, he said he would pick me up. I was outside waiting for him since my house is a mess and I didn't want to let him catch any glimpse of what a disaster it is at the moment. His car is spotless, just like his apartment. I started to think that perhaps he was a bit OCD and his cleanliness wasn't just "Army related". He had a huge box in the back. He told me it was headlights for his car that are the wrong size and he hasn't gotten around to shipping them back yet because he is waiting to see if Amazon will figure out a way to lessen the expense (this box will be mentioned later on...) . On the way out of my community, my friend Marina was in the car behind us. He thought that was an interesting coincidence. I told him it's a very small community!
When we got to TGT all the bar seats were taken so we sat in a booth. It worked out. I appreciated that I didn't have to wear my glasses since there was a TV in our booth. :) We shared fried pickles, crab dip and chicken wings. I discovered that he is not a fan of sauces: no ketchup, no ranch dressing, not really anything. I thought that was interesting. I also discovered that I was only his second date from an online dating site. The first was almost a year ago when he first moved to the area and there was nothing really there. He had deleted his account and just recently (within the past 3-4 weeks) put a profile back up. I filled him in on the details of me being a professional online dater (no mention of the blog was discussed- he won't tell me his birthday so I don't need to divulge blog deets), and told him some of my dating horror stories. The leg rubber/touchy feely guy was mentioned, as was the guy with the flames on his shirt and Mr. Halitosis. Mr. Halitosis might have occurred prior to the blog... it was a LONG ways back! Anyway, we chatted for a while and I could tell he was getting a bit bored, as was I but it was closing in on the end of the game. I asked if he could hold out 11 more play minutes which is like 20 or so more real minutes and he said it was no problem. I told him I would buy him coffee at Starbucks when the game was over. "Deal!"
We walked over to Starbucks where we ran into Marina's son, Patrick! I told him it was a very small community and you are bound to run into someone you know no matter where you go. I bought him a coffee and he described to me what a flat white was. I'm so much smarter now. I tried to order a Holiday Spice Flat White, but they were out of the holiday stuff since they are moving it on out. I went with my go-to: Peppermint Mocha, no whip, super-super hot!
On the way back to the car, he told me that the next time we get together (yay, he's talking future sense) if I see the box in his backseat (see, the box...it's baaack) then I need to give him hell for it because that means he's been lazy and he needs to do something with it. I told him I could do that! Being bossy is kinda my thing.... just ask Marina! I was hoping that he would suggest sitting and chatting some more because I enjoy his company but he didn't. That was ok. It was a bit chilly but tolerable in the sun. I needed to get home to feed the pup anyway.
So he dropped me off at my house and there was no kiss or anything. There was no attempt that seemed to be made. I texted him once I got in the house and said "thanks." I also told him that I really wanted to kiss him. He said that he was very conscious of the fact that he needed to brush his teeth otherwise he maybe would've tried. I took this opportunity to ask him if he was a bit germaphobic and/or OCD. He said that he's really weird about hygiene and avoids exposing anyone to his non-hygienic self. He also said he considers himself borderline OCD, but that it all seems perfectly normal to him and he just likes to be extra clean. I can get with that but that is so the opposite of me. I definitely need to clean, clean, clean if he is ever going to be stepping foot into my house!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him again. I can't wait to spend more time with him and get to know him better. :) I'm hoping there's a Justin Blog Number 3!
